Responsible tourism

“(…) a conscious and ethical travel which with respect and availability knows other cultures, other people. A travel which avoid destruction and exploitation, a travel which follows the principle of equity, sustainability and tolerance”
Defining responsible tourism, adopted by AITR’s assembly October 9, 2005 in Cervia.

Responsible tourism is tourism that is carried out according to principles of social and economic justice and with full respect toward the environment and cultures.

Responsible tourism recognizes the centrality of the local host community and its right to be a protagonist in developing sustainable and responsible tourism in its native land.

Responsible tourism encourages the positive interaction between the tourist industry, local communities and travellers.
